The lure of get-rich-quick schemes or false fundraisers often conceals their ulterior motives. Stay cautious when adding new friends or clicking unfamiliar links. Reach out to the person through alternative means to verify their identity.

Malware/Phishing Attacks: 👾

A tagged post from a friend or family member can be tempting, but beware! Hackers might have compromised their account, sharing links or videos that hide malware. Clicking these can grant criminals access to your personal information. Removing the infection can be time-consuming and costly. Always exercise caution before clicking on unfamiliar links.

Tech Scams: 💻

Ever encountered a pop-up claiming your antivirus is outdated or detecting numerous threats? These pop-ups have become the new bait for criminals. If you click, your computer may malfunction, leading you to believe you need tech support. Scammers posing as tech companies (Amazon, Microsoft, etc.) will gain remote access to your device, asking you to sign in to your online banking and demanding payment for their "services." If this happens, shut down your computer and contact your bank immediately.
